The Helena Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to MCA 46-23-508, which authorizes a law enforcement agency to release the name and address of a registered sexual or violent offender. This information is public criminal justice information, pursuant to MCA 44-5-103. This list contains registered offenders in Helena, East Helena, Lincoln, Augusta, Wolf Creek and the Lewis and Clark County Area.

The individuals who appear on these lists have been convicted of a sexual or violent offense that requires registration with the police department in the county of their residence. These offenders have advised the Helena Police Department that he or she will be living in the Lewis and Clark County area.

The Helena Police Department has no legal authority to direct where an offender may or may not live. Unless court ordered restrictions exist, this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he or she chooses.

Offenders have always lived in our community, but it wasn’t until the passage of the Sexual or Violent Offender Registration Act of 1989 (which mandates offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is now able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to inform the community of offenders.

If you have any questions or concerns about the individuals on the lists, or if you need to report that one of these offenders is being threatened, intimated or harassed, please call the Helena Police Department Detective Division at 447-8475, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
